Oriented Strand Board (OSB) is an engineered particle board that works well in industrial or load-bearing construction applications.
OSB is commonly used in flooring, roof decking, wall sheathing, and some furniture production. The board is made with cross-oriented layers flakes or strand wood. Engineered woods like strand board are often more durable than solid wood because in the composite materials, defects are reduced and homogenized throughout each panel making each panel much more uniform. APA – the Engineered Wood Association notes that using strand board in construction makes buildings 2-3 times more able to stand up to high wind or earthquakes.
